What is The Foundation...
Find your Potential
With Dr. Rachel Gilmore
“I am your guide to find your potential, awareness, and freedom from pain. I am the foundation builder.”
The foundation was built out of a need for people. People are hurting and trapped more than ever. People are dying for answers, direction, and solutions. It is time to build a stronger foundation for your life.
If you think you can go through life without challenges, you would be wrong. It’s the challenges that show us who we truly are. The pain, the suffering, the adversity helps to build the best foundation to move forward with. These times show you who you really are.
I built this clinic to teach people how to utilize their pain, life, experience, adversity, and other challenges to build the foundation of their life. To live an amazing, as pain-free as possible, limitless in activity and fulfilled life.
The people who decide to rise up and put in the work from pain, injury, life’s challenges, and other things that may impact them are the ones who will find the most success. Who will overcome the adversity to become their best.
The journey is not easy, it can be overwhelming, frustrating, throw you curveballs, and so many more things. But that’s what makes the journey so interesting. If we choose to see the potential through the experience and through the lens of the pain or challenges, we can truly capture what we are capable of.
I want to show you the way that I have built my foundation. The way I have overcome chronic pain and injuries. The way that I have not let it limit any activity that I do. I want to help you build the same foundation that I have built for myself.
I am here to help you build your foundation. Welcome to your life’s journey to the best foundation that you can build.
With all the love,
Dr. Rachel Gilmore

Frequently Asked Questions
I'm already seeing another chiropractor, why would I come see you?
The truth is that most chiropractors do about 10% of what we do. In addition to
what a 'typical' chiropractor may do, we offer many other services like soft tissue treatment,
exercise programming, and rehab/strengthening exercise. Most important, any treatment plan given is custom tailored to your specific needs and goals. One size never fits all at The Foundation.
I'm going to physical therapy, why would I come see you?
Dr. Gilmore provides all of the same services that a typical physical therapy clinic would. The difference is the time and personal attention and advanced strengthening you get at our clinic. Your entire visit is spent 1-1 with a doctor or therapist. We don't pass you to an aide or an assistant and we don't stop at low weight and band exercise for your goals. We know the level of performance it takes to get you back to sport and we won't stop until you get there.
No. In fact, this is about as far from what we do as possible. We will spend time working on you, doing hands on treatment but also expect that you are willing to learn and move your body! Our specialist, Dr. Gilmore knows how to build your foundation of mobility-stability-strength for lasting solutions and maximum performance in your life and sport.
I've already got exercises from my physical therapist, why would I need MORE exercises?
The truth is that most exercises given in Physical Therapy & some chiropractic offices are 'cookie cutter'. In other words, every person that walks in with back pain gets the same set of exercises, no matter what. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. You may have exercises to do, but they may not be the RIGHT exercises.
I believe that proper exercise and strengthening is often the BEST form of medicine for anyone. Most people in pain will benefit from the 'mixed' approach of both chiropractic care as well as proper exercise. We will establish proper mobility, build joint stability and strengthen to keep you out of pain long term.
Here is a list of people we can help:
1) Serious youth, college & pro athletes who have been injured playing their sport AND/OR are looking to improve their performance
2) Active adults who have the mindset to be their very best and are looking for THE solution to maintain mobility and improve performance in their sport and life
3) Weekend Warriors who love to play sports but work long stressful hours and don't always have the time to get the proper medical care they need
4) Active adults 30-64 who have been injured while exercising and who are looking to get back to exercise, pain free. Or Adults 30-64 who would like to be active but get hurt every time they try to exercise.
5) People who take their health very seriously and can't imagine that taking a 'pill' for every ache and pain is a good idea. They believe that exercise, nutrition, and proper stretching are the keys to good health NOT some silly pill bottle or injection
6) Planning/Prepartum, pregnant, postpartum moms looking to ensure better health going into pregnancy (or are worried about physical ability surrounding), dealing with pain during pregnancy, or looking to get back to or improve upon their physical state after baby. This is about you too momma! Postpartum is never capped, it is not too late to begin addressing changes that occurred during pregnancy and might have never been addressed.
In most cases, injuries heal and you may or may not have pain long term. This is obvious. The not- so-obvious is that your joints and muscles will begin to compensate and cause other problems that will limit you, long-term. This could lead to re-injury or other injuries.
Patients that are successful in my office understand that truly becoming better and healing takes time, commitment, and work. Although I am here to guided you every step of the way, not everyone is ready for that. My first priority is to help you to understand what is going wrong and then help you come up with a treatment strategy. Once I have done that, it's your decision as to what happens next!
ASAP. The general rule: "The longer something has been around, the longer it will stay around." The quicker we can get in for treatment, the quicker you will get the results you want. Pain is typically the last thing to show up and the first thing to go away in my office; however, pain relief is only the first phase in getting you on the road to a long term solution.
Yes! Know that the best thing for arthritis is getting the joints and your body moving. Although, there is no CURE for arthritis, we can manage the symptoms that come from arthritis. Many people with arthritis get to a point where they have no pain at all!
I have not met a case yet where this was necessary, so; in the vast majority of cases, NO! My goal is always to help you continue to train or exercise even while seeking treatment. We will select exercises that are beneficial and specific to your needs and goals.
Not in my humble opinion. As most things, it comes down to what you value. Most people will spend more money on going out to restaurants over the course of a month than they will spend in our office. And, each condition and person is treating individually so therefore, there is no 'Set Price'. Upon evaluation, we will learn what your goals are and what you are trying to achieve and be able to match a care plan accordingly.
Many MD's are 'old-school' and believe that rest and pills are the best form of treatment. Some may have never really interacted with a chiropractor and aren't clear on exactly what we do. Also, I can pretty much guarantee, they have no idea what we do at The Foundation since we are certainly different than mostly all chiropractors in south Alabama.
First, let's be clear. When talking about surgery, we are NOT talking about life or death procedures like heart, brain, lung, etc. We do not deal with that type of stuff and please, defer to your doctor who is recommending that. However, if we are speaking about muscle, bone, or joint surgeries, many can be avoided or delayed with good treatment. And I always tell people, the surgery is on the list of options if our treatment does not get you better.
Do I need to come forever?
No! This is a common misconception to many, as chiropractors in the past have demanded they come for treatment forever. We certainly do not 'demand' a patient come for treatment once they are healed and back doing what they love. However, some do CHOOSE to stay on their own because of the value and long term health we have been able to provide.
When speaking about the serious athlete, the level in which you are pushing your body may require more fine tuning periodically, but we will speak with you about your specific needs and recommend a plan that works best for you to maximize your performance over the long haul.
